Tome by Smax
The fifth release on Hidden Waves comes courtesy of Amman Mushtaq AKA Smax.
'Tome' is his first full length album and was conceived shortly after moving from his home country of Pakistan to the US in 2013. After attending the Red Bull Music Academy in NYC later that year Amman continued work on the album while travelling throughout America and Europe with his Laptop and OP-1.
Originally intended as the soundtrack to an imaginary comic book, 'Tome' is a psychedelic collage of Middle Eastern ambience, lofi melodies and tribal jazz. The album features collaborations with friends such as Nawksh, a fellow member of Karachi band Mole, who in turn featured Smax on his 2016 album on Japanese label Guruguru Brain.
For the past couple of years Amman has been busy showcasing tracks off the album, playing live at a number of venues including the Low End Theory Festival in 2015.
