Unfathomed by Hadamard Gate

In the far future, humanity has colonized the stars. The dreams of cybernetic and genetic uplift have been made a reality, but the technology is owned by the ancient corporations that first created it, and its installation and use is far too expensive for the common masses.

To earn a shot at physical and digital immortality, a few take on indentured servitude, receiving their first rejuvenation treatments when they sign on. Then they are put into stasis for long, relativistic flights to a new stellar frontier.

In this far-flung sector of the galaxy, all the habitable planets bear the ruins of an elder civilization. Enormous vacant buildings and cities dot the landscapes of a hundred worlds. But no trace of the builders remains.

Who were they? With what unknown technologies did they perform their great architectural feats? And are they truly all gone?
