Moon in the sky makes the trees so bright
Pale white clouds on a summer's night
Ground feels warm and the air up above
Fills up the wings of a turtle dove

Owl in the trees makes a scream of the harshest order
Picks up a mouse in the sky just to fill her larder

Turtle dove makes her nest too small
One little babe from the tree will fall
The other two babes just sit and cry
One to the other says "mud in your eye"

Pa get your gun there's a fox broken in the larder
Fox gotta eat in this world we got law and order

Fox got away right back to his den
Fed up his little ones 8 9 10
Fox to his kits said "The grub's running low"
Let's look for a turtle dove out in the snow
