Modern Pioneer is an epic ballad about a legendary couple in times gone by.

As of the time of this music being introduced, it is the most recent song about pioneers that we know of, and will continue to be so until we know of another. The sentiments in this song will be shared by anyone who is modern enough to be reading this today, whether or not we qualify as pioneers.

The video track for this song is a special contribution from producer Don Kaufman, who again wearing a video director’s hat for the occasion (and sitting in the director’s chair), and with great innovation, raised these pioneers to a higher dimension.

It should also be noted that Don donned three hats for this song (at the same time), as his expressive percussion track furnishes an indispensable element of drama and splendor to the mood in the hall.

This song is a Country ballad in the rhythm of a Spanish sarabande. It mixes in influences of Irish and other world music. The form is largely stream of consciousness. It has verses and choruses, but they are constantly varied with an eye toward increasing dramatic intensity. This dramatic buildup in the arrangement draws to some extent on operatic compositional technique. Generally speaking – once you hear it you’ll never listen to anything else in the same way again.
