SNOW
It's a frosty wintry day in all white array,
but a heartful of mistakes makes you want to keep apart
at half way past the start.
Only warmed by palm-clutched flakes and the kids’ laughs and joy:
a life from stills when you were still neither weighted down nor coy,
but a sledding little boy.
And when the snow’s arrived
and draped the slopes in white
and all’s forgiven — then your sight
will again be clear and bright.
Where d’ you linger, love, I dread the cold in my bed;
wish you brought me back the laughs, came tobogganing
down the paths
