[EN] Ray Mauger embarked on his musical journey at the tender age of 13, discovering the guitar, and by the time he turned 16, he was igniting the evenings of Breton dance halls with his artistic fervor. Starting from 1980 in St Brieuc, while dedicating himself to music education, he laid the foundation for the Jazz 4+ trio and showcased his talent within a Big Band.
Since 1990, the Parisian stage has become the fertile ground for his creativity, where he distinguishes himself in enchanting duets with Valentine Quintin. In 1996, he immortalized his talent with the recording of the album "Éclaircie," featuring virtuosos such as Boris Blanchet on the saxophone.
In 2002, the "Chloé" opus was born. Now, he thrives within a quartet featuring Malagasy bassist Alain Ramon, American drummer Chris Daley McCraven, an adopted son and accomplished student of Steve McCraven, and David Muesham, a disciple of Yussef Lateef.
Ray Mauger, humble in the face of the diversity of his art, rejects the strict title of composer in favor of that of a melodist. The quartet he leads offers music imbued with simplicity, providing listeners with a rhythmic experience where groove takes precedence over original structures.

[FR] Ray Mauger amorça son parcours musical à l'âge tendre de 13 ans en découvrant la guitare, et dès ses 16 ans, il enflammait les soirées des bals bretons de sa fougue artistique. À partir de 1980, à St Brieuc, tout en se consacrant à l'enseignement musical, il jetait les bases du trio Jazz 4+ et s'illustrait au sein d'un Big Band.
Depuis 1990, la scène parisienne est devenue le terreau fertile de sa créativité, où il se distingue dans des duos envoûtants avec Valentine Quintin. En 1996, il immortalisait son talent avec l'enregistrement de l'album "Éclaircie", aux côtés de virtuoses tels que Boris Blanchet au saxophone.
En 2002, voit le jour l'opus "Chloé". Désormais, il évolue au sein d'un quartet comprenant le bassiste malgache Alain Ramon, le batteur américain Chris Daley McCraven, fils adoptif et élève émérite de Steve McCraven, et David Muesham, disciple de Yussef Lateef.
Ray Mauger, humble devant la diversité de son art, récuse le titre strict de compositeur au profit de celui de mélodiste. Le quartet qu'il conduit offre une musique empreinte de simplicité, offrant aux auditeurs une expérience rythmique où le groove prédomine sur des structures originales.
