'Remote Vapour' was written in 2007 - 2008. The two pieces here were simple synth sketches I made in the early hours as I found myself unable to sleep when I first moved back to Japan in 2007.
This recording is one of a number of sketches I made just after walking around Shimo-Itabashi through to Ikebukuro stations, as I did almost every night. It was a strangely peaceful time as I would walk around, lay on park benches, watch people come in and out of clubs or hotels, go and read some comics in a 'konbini', and generally just be constantly enamoured with the energy of where I lived in Tokyo. I'd then go home and record quiet music and would more often than not wake up after falling asleep at a synth.
It was an odd time. I was alone and yet at peace with myself and my isolation. The city was alive though, and in the belly of its slightly smothering embrace, I found discombobulated peace for a while.
