Third Wing by Robert Vincs and Barney McAll
Rob and I hadn't played together for 30 years. We decided to meet at Brian Brown studio. Pat Telfer set up a mic for Rob's Saxello and we placed a Rhodes and a Celeste in a "V" shape for me. I played with one hand on the Celeste and one on the Rhodes, lights off. Rob was peaceful and present.
The first notes you hear are the first notes we played, and we followed what came to light for 80 minutes. Then we went home.
We came back two weeks later and overdubbed percussion. Junko painted and played percussion intermittently too. That's how the cover art was born; between playing percussion and painting what she heard. It was a spontaneous meditation all around. The songs were created inside an evening. We didn't speak about what we were going to do or when we were going to start or stop. We hope you enjoy hearing it because we certainly enjoyed making it...
