Sweden's electro queen EMMON is back to reclaim her throne with new music from her first full-length album since 2014


Sweden's electro queen EMMON, aka Emma Nylén, returned to the Electronic Body Music Scene after a 5 year long break in 2019. After releasing 4 stand alone singles under the working name "Under construction", Emmon is now back to reclaim her throne with brand new single "Purebloods", featuring post punk icon Emanuel Åström from Agent Side Grinder. She tells us; “The song is about trying to take responsibility for feelings and actions in our time of incels, disinformation and conspiracy theories. To take another perspective and dare to challenge oneself on a personal level in order to do something about one's own little bubble."

"Purebloods" is an unyielding EBM-track, with sleek refined soundscapes and thundering basslines that vibrates right through your bones. Sitting down to write the new song, Emmon quickly realized is was to become a duet. "When I wrote the song, I immediately felt that it had two different inner voices that spoke to each other", she tells us. "The first thought that struck me was that I wanted to do it together with Emanuel Åström, singer of the Swedish electronic post punk band Agent Side Grinder. I really like his voice and way of singing. In addition to that, we sound so different in voices that it matches the whole concept with the song. If he had said no, I don't think I would not have asked anyone else, just put it on ice for a while. That's why I'm so happy he wanted to be a part of it.”

The new track is accompanied by a stunning Music video made by Niklas Kärreskog, who also plays synth with Emmon live. Emma goes on to explains; “We work as a small creative collective where we collaborate on several creative levels, both visually and musically. The video contains graphic elements that are the same type of pattern used in so-called Rorschach tests. A psychological personality test that consists of a series of images with non-figurative and symmetrical ink pumps, where the test person is given the task of telling what the images represent. This symbolizes the whole content of the song. A kind of psychoanalysis and personality test of your own behaviour."
