Narrm-born, Emma Volard is set to drop her latest project, ‘Deity - Remixed’; the follow up to her warmly-regarded 2022 debut LP, ‘Deity’. It features some of the their favourite producers and collaborators from her own backyard. ‘Deity - Remixed’ is out on the 2nd of June via The Operatives Records.
“This remix EP is a love letter to the music community in Narrm. It represents the connections, styles and diversity that runs through the veins of our city. I feel very lucky to collaborate and share spaces with all the individuals who contributed to this EP.”
Elle Shimada’s heartfelt slow-burner remix of ‘Femininity’, is backed by Melbourne guitarist and long-time collaborator, Uno Lizard who delivers a brassy, lo-fi, motorik house remix of, ‘Respire’. Brunswick-based organ virtuoso and producer, Moses Carr (member Plastiq) shares a broken-beat flip of ‘Osmosis’ while keyboardist/producer Jake Amy (Kaiit/Bumpy) gives ‘Femininity’ an afrobeat/synphonic re-work. Komang’s driving UK-garage twist of ‘Uncover’ is matched well with the yearning-experimental sonic’s of Nikodimos’ take on ‘Breathe’.
Emma Volard is one of Narrm’s most enigmatic and staunchly authentic acts. Her music is entrenched in lavish harmonies, broken-beats and gut-wrenching lyricism, and has garnered attention from national and international tastemakers alike.
Having continued to evolve to greater heights in recent years, Em has landed festivals including Meadow, New Years Eve on the Hill and Brunswick Music Festival.
