Head honcho DJ Pitch returns to TT with his latest EP ‘Spiritual Claustrophobia’. Think covid fever dreams and an itch for club glory as the catalyst behind these existential wonderings in sound. Built from the bottom up with samplings of the recognisable alongside the ever evolving sounds from the warped world of DJ Pitch. Take a 4-track trip into a range of uncomfortably comforting beats. ‘Exit’ will have you doubting what is real. Harking vocal samples and synth pads oozing in reverberations drop you into a compressed spiralling mystique. A holy prelude to precede the chugging beauty that is ‘Missing in Action’. M.I.A vocals intercepted from the ether comfortably sit amongst uplifting syncopations and slow released hits. Think TT takes M.I.A. ‘Fractured Collectivity’ begins as an uplifting bouncy beat thrown off by the forewarning vocal sample taking you on a trip down lo-fi memory lane. A melodic line constructed from video game nostalgia closes out into ambient sounds of empty space- you have arrived at ‘Spiritual Claustrophobia’. Melancholic vocals are the omen to all-consuming drum fills. Let the stark guitar strums carry you into the tight groove, gone before you know it. Much like what you thought you saw in yourself.
