Chemicals from BUMMER by Deep Sea Creature

Chemicals fill my stairwell
and seep through the cracks
under the door
surrounded by the scent
of a neighbour's curry
and the dank grass
from the fourth floor.

Lingering in my living room
picking at couch stichings
loitering in the kitchen
trying not to be
internally bitching
about you

But what else could this be
other than you and me
slowly
learning to resent
trying to be more than content
with each other
trying to work out ways
in which to be more than just
Neutral Lovers.

I can learn to forgive
I can learn to let it go
I can learn to just say no
When my mind tries to pull me
down those deep, dark directions
this is my affection
seeping through the cracks of my bones.
Lazy bones on a cushioned throne
of polyester; she will fester through me now.
No one taught me how to fall down.
