Reignite by Dark Just Fell

Xy-Roks grasped the Cube of Kaladara, feeling its immense power coursing through him like a surging tide. Closing his eyes, he focused intently on the artifact, channeling its energy with precision. In a sudden flash of light, the very fabric of space bent around him, and in an instant, he vanished from the Dune of Serakar.

The oppressive stillness of The Fort greeted him. It was a familiar silence, heavy and unyielding, yet it offered solace to the dark mage. Without hesitation, Xy-Roks began his work. He knew he would need allies to execute the final stages of his grand plan, but the absence of Zephyr weighed heavily on him. The High Lord had been more than a servant; his unwavering loyalty and strength were irreplaceable. Without him, Xy-Roks felt an unspoken void, an acknowledgment that his path forward would be fraught with greater challenges.

Within the shadowy confines of his chambers, Xy-Roks immersed himself in studying the cube. Its presence amplified his dark spells, opening pathways to new knowledge and power. The figure in the crypt had already unveiled the cube’s potential to manipulate space and time, and Xy-Roks had used that power to escape Kaladara. Yet, mastery over these forces would require greater practice and experimentation. While he had begun to harness space travel, the mysteries of time remained elusive. Still, he pressed on, determined to unlock every secret the cube held.

During one of these experiments, the figure’s cryptic words resurfaced in his mind:
"The key to life walks no more, yet its ashes remain. Time binds its wings; only with the cube can you set him free."

The phrase reverberated in his thoughts, unraveling memories of his time with the twin sisters who had aided him in uncovering the hidden truths of the world. Their relentless pursuit of forbidden knowledge had shaped his path, and now, those fragments of history led him to a revelation.

He recalled ancient legends of the Phoenix, a mythical bird imbued with unparalleled healing magic. Its tears, said to hold the purest essence of life, could heal the deepest wounds and even reverse death but would need presence of the revived soul —though only once in its lifetime. When conditions were right, a deceased Phoenix could turn to ashes and reignite, rising anew in a fiery rebirth. Yet these magnificent creatures had perished millennia ago, their kind lost in the aftermath of the Age of Lumindors.

Determined to uncover more, Xy-Roks delved into his archives. Among his collection was a tome he had stolen centuries ago from the Great Archives—a record of magical beasts penned by Azaziah, son of Shazabi. To his surprise, the book detailed the final resting place of an Elder Phoenix, the greatest of its kind, which had nested atop a fiery spire deep within the Obsidian Wastes.

Without delay, Xy-Roks marshaled his shadowy servants and set out across the desolate expanse. The journey was grueling, the Obsidian Wastes an unforgiving labyrinth of jagged cliffs and scalding winds. Yet, Xy-Roks’s magic subdued the treacherous terrain, bending it to his will.

At last, they arrived at the Phoenix’s resting place—a hidden cavern nestled within the mountains. The entrance was shrouded in powerful illusions, designed to repel intruders. But with the cube in his possession, Xy-Roks dispelled the wards effortlessly, slicing through them like a blade through mist. He entered the cavern alone, leaving his minions to guard the perimeter.

The air inside was heavy and still, the cavern walls blackened as though scorched by an ancient inferno. At the center of the chamber lay a pile of silvery ashes, faintly shimmering with a dormant energy. As Xy-Roks approached, the ashes momentarily glowed, igniting into a fleeting flame before collapsing into cold embers.

He raised a hand, conjuring dark fire enhanced by the cube’s power. The flames coiled around his hand, crackling with unnatural intensity as he extended it toward the ashes. The cube pulsed in resonance, amplifying his spell’s precision and potency. When the flames touched the ashes, a brilliant blue light burst forth, illuminating the cavern in a radiant glow.

The ashes began to swirl, forming a vortex of fire and energy. Suddenly, a blinding flash erupted, and from the maelstrom emerged a Phoenix, reignite from its own remains. Its wings blazed with golden fire, its piercing eyes meeting Xy-Roks with both defiance and awe.

Xy-Roks regarded the creature with cold satisfaction. He extended a hand, and the Phoenix lowered its head reluctantly, its flames dimming as if acknowledging its new master.

“This will do,” he murmured, his voice laced with triumph. “Zephyr’s resurrection begins here.”
