More Time Records continue to build on a busy 2022 with a debut EP from an extremely promising producer and Daytimers crew member, Darama bringing his unique blend of South Asian percussion and UK bass-heavy sounds.
Born to Punjabi parents, Darama’s heritage and influences can be heard throughout his music – where garage, grime, and UK funky meet frenetic South Asian rhythms to create an instantly recognisable sound.
Many of his unreleased, highly sought-after dubs have become staples across Rinse, the BBC, and Reprezent, and his role as a core member of the Daytimers collective has seen him come to the fore as one of the UK’s most exciting emerging talents.
Never was this more apparent than at his genre defying Mixmag Lab, where he proved his sets have the same intangible energy as his tunes. After releasing a slew of club-ready edits, his position as one of the UK’s most exciting new producers was firmly cemented as seen by the reaction to his music at Daytimers' Boiler Room session.
The hypnotic first single Vera had it’s percussion recorded at his home, with members of Darama’s family joining in to play traditional instrumentation on the track. On Blue Frog, he experiments with common dhol patterns called ‘chaals’ and combines them with the gulliest of UK-centric bass sounds. The EP also contains a remix from Daytimers founder, Provhat.
