No Dial Tone follow up their label debut ‘About You’ with their latest production ‘Standing Still’. Once again calling in the services of long time collaborator Djamila for vocal duties, ‘Standing Still’ is a deep, slow burning, almost Bjork-esque record, that picks up perfectly where ‘About You’ left off. With a production full of such textures and tones, there was only one person on the list for a possible remix, a Classic cohort from the early Bar Rumba / Space days and one of the first artists to appear on the label, Mathew Herbert was an instinctive choice. Here, he turns in a remix that is as mad as hell, awkwardly Herbert in parts but timelessly Classic in its resolution. Rounding off the EP is new production ‘Lost In The Club’, a stripped to the bone, dark record form the Norwegian duo that will, with the light and guidance of the spoken word vocal instructions, certainly leave you lost in the club.
Classic was set up in 1994 by Derrick Carter and Luke Solomon. Releasing a whole host of wonderful long-lasting dance music from a long list of artists including Derrick and Luke themselves, Honey Dijon, Eli Escobar, Red Rack’em, Juan Maclean and many, many more.
