Under Duck from Broccoli Farm by Claire Ness

I went to the playground, I went to the park.
The sun was setting, it was getting dark.
I tried the teeter-totter and the slide.
Then something over on the other side caught my eye.

There were four poles holding up a big cross bar,
Chains hanging down, but not too far,
To a black rubber seat, made just for me.
I swung back and forth, baby, until I felt so free.

I was kinda scared on my first day of school.
I didn’t know anyone, I felt like a fool.
I sat all alone on the swing set feeling blue.
And when I looked around, all the other kids looked sad too.

So I hopped off my swing and I offered to help.
I pushed everybody til they rang like bells.
They were all smiling and laughing in the end.
And before I knew it, I had five new friends.
