almost out of reach of my senses
hard to see from up here
a suit of flesh and bones lies discarded

unperturbed by its obsolescence

lust, empyreal,
undone of flesh and its rules
only fools ask “is it real”
always one more layer to peel

send in the ghouls

angels flare
in astral inflorescence
hide their discarnated fear
herding souls
by hapless psychic smallness guarded
ere dread moves in for the kill
and sparks its roaring cruel incandescence

safety’s a mirage
every psalm’s just a threnody
when the world rides on wings of entropy
and its ceaseless sabotage

demons teem
might as well join them
for more lucid is the dream
that has coined them

they perish all the same
but at least they know

but abdication of futile ambition
