0991
inspired by the song “9891“, included on WÆNDE, previously unreleased
Similarly to our record WÆNDE, this title is alluding to a date. While we were previously focussing on the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989, we are now turning to the first year of the dawning 1990s. It takes a while for the quavering Lyra to find its rhythmic order but it then transforms into a catchy, rhythmically split trance sequence. The kick is playing with ease at 126 beats per minute, as if heard through a basement window of a Berlin techno bunker, not yet ready to greet the dawning sunlight.
But it was not only our travels that made these years to come – which would shape us musically – so moving and turbulent. The emerging electronic styles had a huge impact on our musical awareness and so we embarked on our first joint adventures. The year 1990 marked a crucial turning point:
SPIEGLEIN, SPIEGLEIN AN DER WAND…! (Mirror, mirror, on the wall…!)
