‘Denials' draws from memory. A story blending acoustic piano and heavy synth textures explores imaginative narratives. While these explorations evoke ambiguous associations, this musical approach is architectural and, in the sense of Robert Venturi, complex and contradictory. When in postmodernist architectural theory the abstraction of material quality can give new meaning to the representation of classical elements, a sonic fabric might use fragments of the past to create an owned present. This approach heightens with BWV 927, a recomposition of a Bach prelude I used to play as a child, as an homage to transgender icon and pioneer of the synthesiser Wendy Carlos.
