Woolgathering by Bendu
When we find that the world we have constructed for ourselves is just a fantasy, the design of which is flawed, the most dignified response is not to grab the ejection ring and watch the dream die while we float above it, but to hit the ground at full speed. Shattering into a billion pieces; particles diffusing into the ether with the same velocity, and becoming our creations in the ensuing chaos. The hope being that there is some beauty to behold in the symmetry of the impact. Recorded so that another might be moved by the wonder of it flaws and all.
Woolgathering was recorded in 2022 and 2023 during a very anxious time where it seemed reckless to devote time to play and escapism. This is not an era that has ended so this dangerous work continues. “It's the only rule!” - CM
I'm one of those lucky folks that can talk to an old friend that I haven’t seen for many years and it’s like no time as passed. This album is dedicated to my friends. I am grateful for each and every one of you, old and new alike. Thank you for being part of my life. It is so much better with you in it.
These recordings were constructed in Ableton Live with audio gathered by a Universal Audio Apollo. The instruments for the most part are analog and temporarily patched together as needed. The components used were designed and constructed by Make Noise, Moog, Verbos, Intellijel and numerous other entrepreneurs. When a polyphonic instrument was needed a beloved Alpha Juno by Roland was used. Software by Sonic Charge, Audio Damage, Puremagnetik, Audio Thing, Arturia and Giorgio Sancristoforo were also used, typically for processing and very occasionally for instrumentation.
The recontextualized found recordings included are all in the public domain and represent a fair use.
