Nottingham-raised, London-based future soul artist B-ahwe pushes her sound into new territories with her 26% MIXTAPE. Borne out of the move to a new city, and embracing new methods of creativity, the project centres on the theme of growth, and confronting the societal stigma around achieving things by a certain age. Age is a percentage, not a number.
The tape features her trademark jazz inflected, future soul sound, but pushes it in bold new directions, acting as a blank canvas for her to incorporate influences spanning drum n' bass, broken beat and alternative hip-hop. It's a timestamp of the influence of being in a new city, binding influences together seamlessly with both long-term collaborators TAMBALA (College Music) and apltn (College Music), and new partners Hemai (Tru Thoughts) and Lorenz The Music Guy (Steam Down).
