Psalm 18
I love You Lord my Shield, my Strength
My Rock, my Fortress, I give thanks
Through Your salvation I’ve been saved
From tangled coiling cords of the grave
Destruction and death had me ensnared
But I cried to the Lord and I was spared
In His temple He heard my prayer
And from my voice knew my despair
In anger the Lord made the whole Earth quake
Foundations of the mountains shake
In His mouth blazed burning coals
Smoke and fire rose from His nose
He parted the heavens, and left His seat
With dark rain clouds beneath His feet
The Lord soared down on wings of the wind
With a canopy of darkness covering Him
Shrouded by cloud He advanced brightening
The Earth with hail and bolts of lightening
From heaven His thundering voice resounded
Scattering enemies that had me surrounded
With His arrows He routed my foes
The valleys of the sea became exposed
Foundations of the Earth laid bare
When the Lord reached down and I was spared
Before I was in way over my head
A powerful enemy wanted me dead
It would have been a disastrous day
If God had not stepped in the way
But I was rescued by the Lord
His support was my reward
For my clean and righteous hands
That always kept my God’s commands
All His laws are before me
I have not turned from His decree
I’ve been blameless before Him
And kept myself away from sin
Those who are faithful to Your Name
Have no blame and receive the same
Men who are proud and arrogant stumble
But You save the pure and humble
You O Lord make my lamp burn
Into light my darkness turns
With You I’ll scale any wall
Because You’re perfect without flaw
There is no God, beside You Lord
You train my hands to wield a sword
Arm me with the strength to fight
Let me to stand on the highest height
Make my feet fast like a deer
Broaden the path so my way is clear
Your right hand stoops down to me
To give me Your shield of victory
I pursued those You despised
Crushed them so they could not rise
Watched them fall beneath my feet
Til they were dead, I did not retreat
They cried for help but no one came
Lord You put my foes to shame
Now my enemies bow to me
Or else the turn their backs and flea
As fine as dust on the wind I beat
And poured them out like mud in the street
You have delivered me from my foes
Now I rule those I don’t even know
Foreigners cringe and lose all heart
Nations tremble and fall apart
They are my subjects and do what I say
Soon as they hear me speak they obey
God my Rock and Savior lives!
I praise the Lord for all he gives
My children shall forever sing
Of the great victories God gave his king
