Life happens at the table. Not just the eating, but the discussions, arguments, catching-up, asking questions. Sometimes it was sitting together in quiet, usually with my dad. Watching the birds come to the feeder. Sharing a smile as a squirrel steals a few seeds. The breakfast table was the beginning of each new day. Then it got hard for him to eat. Then one day he couldn’t make it to the table.
