English translation, with notes:
Lay down your head, my little sweet kitten.
Sleep now little gold, my sweet friend. Now it is night time.
The morning comes after you sleep, my treasure.
(In the unextended version, the kids names are mentioned in this verse.)

The Sun`s soft light has gone to a different land.
The morning will bring it back. Great and beautiful and warm.
The morning comes after you sleep, my treasure.

The moon shines, far beyond the heavy rain clouds
The rain sings on our roof, the roof of our warm and dry home.
The morning comes after you sleep, my treasure.
(We live in a very raniy town, and I`m very much aware that not every child has dry and warm places to sleep, so this is something to be grateful for).

All children shall sleep now in this country, that we live in.
The dog sleeps at your foot and the cat under a chair.
The morning comes after you sleep, my treasure.
(We have one very cuddly dog who want to sleep in the bed and and a very anti social cat, who likes to sleep nearby. When we sing this song we sometimes makes jokes and puts someone random under the chair, to spice up the lyrics).

Thank you for taking the time to read. <3
