prestebi is old norse for whitby. a gathering of priests.

a monastery was built there by king oswy of northumbria. destroyed centuries later, an abbey took its place. it stands sentinel over the cliffs.

i have walked from robin's hood bay to whitby, watching as white waves broke against the mudstone and jet. the sounds of water and birds calm the hectic mind and i feel in-tune with nature and the past.

these pieces form a tribute of sorts, an attempt at replicating the serenity that can be found amongst the silt and salt battered grasslands that frame the coastline.
