They found her a mile down the stream
She had escaped from her room it seemed
Her dress was torn at the seam
It was wrapped around her face

As I sat down to eat my evening meal
I could not explain just what I’d feel
It all didn’t seem exactly real
Like I’m floating deep in space

My face is covered by a white sheet
And in the dark I see René Magritte

As these clouds fill up my eyes
I think about the big disguise
Is it really the clear blue skies
Or is it a facade

All I see when I fall asleep
Was captured by René Magritte
The reality of what’s underneath
And the questions this has caused

While the iron bells at the edge of space chime
The image and the object they simply rhyme
But they aren’t one and the same
